Frequently Asked Questions

What is intuitive eating?
It's a non-diet approach to support you to improve your food & body relationship. This means listening to your internal cues of hunger, fullness & satisfaction. It empowers you to make food & movement choices from a place of self-care leading to improved physical, mental, and emotional health. It recognizes that health is not determined by weight or body size.
The intuitive eating journey helps you create a peaceful relationship with food & body and it often has a positive influence on the other areas of your life.
What if I have a medical condition?
Diabetes, heart disease, IBS, or any other chronic condition does not have to hold you back from improving your relationship with food and your body. I translate the science of nutrition into practical guidance that you can use to make nourishing food choices that are right for you.
Can you help me lose weight?
Many of my clients have a desire to lose weight at the beginning of our work together. It is totally understandable considering we live in a body obsessed culture that glorifies weight loss at all costs. And yet, in my experience working with clients that focus on weight loss alone, it does not lead to a healthier or happier life. Plus there is a body of research that shows pursuing intentional weight loss has an extremely low rate of long-term success and it actually causes harm.

Instead, I work with clients by shifting the focus to behaviour changes that promote health and support a positive relationship with food, body, and exercise. Your weight loss desire can still exist and yet it isn't the focus.
Working together you may experience weight loss, weight gain, both or neither.
